The Chardonnay opens with crisp, clean aromas of fresh Comice pear and tropical fruit
lifted by toasty oak and sweet vanilla. Across the palate, lush flavors unfold with pineapple,
red apple and scant baking spice. Well balanced with a nice, round finish, the wine completes
an outdoor picnic dinner of grilled buttermilk chicken and pasta salad with spring vegetables.
This wine is crafted to showcase the refreshing fruit-driven flavors of the varietal. We
began by fermenting the wine in stainless steel tanks at low temperatures with partial oak
contact. This retained the bright citrus and tropical notes, balanced with a touch of toasted oak
complexity. Only 40 percent of the wine was put through malolactic fermentation, imparting a
soft roundness to the lush fruit. Extended contact with the lees imparted weight and depth for
lengthy flavors through the finish.
